Vote No on Question 1

If you live in Massachusetts, you will be faced with 3 binding ballot questions at the polls on November 4.  Question 1 seeks to eliminate the state income tax.  Bad idea!  The income tax generates an estimated 12 billion in state revenue.  Were the state to lose 12 billion, or roughly 40% of its budget, property taxes would skyrocket and essential services would be cut back.  This could translate to reductions in our police and fire forces, 911 delays, school closings and drastic cuts to and even elimination of adult education programs to name just a few of the disastrous consequences. 1. Eliminate state income tax? How about that. I agree with you, I think local taxes would increase to compensate. Property taxes, school taxes.
