What are you listening to right now?

Right now I’m listening to a tune called Double Rocker from the UK band Stereolab.  Check out the vid, to hear the song.  If you like what you hear, hop on over to Listen free at Last.fm for vids and streams of the band, and sample some tunes from their compilation Serene Velocity at AllMusic.com.

I think you’ll dig the vibe.

  1. Tony Rice.

  2. Never heard of him – went to his website to check out a tune and was impressed! Have you ever heard Frances Doughty? – Rice reminds me a little of him. Check him it out sometime: http://www.francisdoughty.com/FrancisDoughtyaudiovideo.html

  3. I’ll check it out. Outside of the acoustic world I am a neophyte, but I’ll go over and give a listen.

  4. Excellent, Excellent!

  5. A few years ago I heard this band by accident for the first time on the local University alt station, or the alternative portion of their programming, and loved what I heard. I think it was from one of their older ones. This definitely has that so laid back you might fall over Stereolab feel and the title is right. It obviously two songs stuck together for some reason. Maybe one was too short. -james

  6. It does sound like two tunes rolled into one. I guess that’s why they call it Double Rocker. The first part is a little dreamy – pensive even. The second part is cheery and quirky. Moody – typical of the band. I also stumbled across them by accident only two years ago. You just gave me an idea for a post – Accidental Music. I might go with it and invite others to share their accidents.

  7. I’m listening to the quiet, the freeway, my spouse snorting instead of blowing his nose. Guess I should turn on KCRW although you are inspiring me to pull out my cd of this which I adore! I love the vocals and the way they harmonize in unusual ways with the music.

  8. Thanks for chiming in. Double Rocker is one of those addictive tunes I play over and over – helps get it out of my head.
